MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandal hoops keeps getting better, this time adding Washington product Scott Blakney from the class of 2017.
Â
Blakney will join the Vandals after a successful career under head coach Ryan Allen at Prosser High School in Prosser, Washington. As a junior, Blakney averaged 15 points, 11.5 boards and 2.3 blocks per game, earning his second consecutive first team all-league recognition. Blakney also played his AAU ball with Friends of Hoop under head coach Jeremy Eggers.
Â
A 6-9, 225 lbs. forward, Blakney already has the size to compete at the next level. A truly versatile big, Blakney is more than capable of putting the ball on the floor to create his own opportunities and has shown a tremendous vision for finding his teammates. His ability to finish in the paint and stretch the floor will quickly pay dividends for the Vandals.
Â
"We are excited to have Scott join our program," said head coach
Don Verlin. "He has had great success both on the court and in the classroom and we look forward to his continued growth as a Vandal."
