Vandals prepping for UNLV

THE RECORDS
Idaho is 1-2 after defeating Montana State 20-17 in its opener before falling to back-to-back Pac 12 opponents – No. 8 Washington and Washington State. UNLV also is 1-2 and is coming off a loss to Central Michigan. The Rebels opened with a victory over Jackson State before falling to UCLA.
THE COACHES
PAUL PETRINO
is in his fourth season at Idaho. While it is his first head coaching job, it is not Petrino's first stint at Idaho. His coaching career began at Carroll College (his alma mater, 1989). From Carroll, he went to Idaho where he coached running back, receivers and special teams from 1992-94. From Idaho it was on to Utah State (1995-97), Louisville (1998-99), Southern Mississippi (2000-02), Louisville (2003-06), Atlanta Falcons (2007), Arkansas (2008-09), Illinois (2010-11) and Arkansas (2012).
TONY SANCHEZ is in his second season with the Rebels. He is a 1998 graduate of New Mexico State University where he played receiver. His first coaching assignment was as a student assistant at NMSU. He then coached at Onate High School (Las Cruces, N.M.), Irvin High School (El Paso) and back to Onate before stops at San Ramon (Calif.) High School and Las Vegas' Bishop Gorman High School.
SATURDAY'S GAME    
Saturday's game is the third of three road games in a row for the Vandals. It is the first of two three-game road stretches for the Vandals this season.  
THE SERIES
The two teams first play in 1975 and have meet occasionally on the football field. The most recent game was UNLV's 2010 visit to the Kibbie Dome – a 30-7 Idaho victory.
TELEVISION
The game is on the Mountain West Network.
2016 CAPTAINS
Captains will be announced weekly. DE Tueni Lupeamanu, QB Matt Linehan, OL Jordan Rose and TE Buck Cowan were captains at Washington State.
