The Vandals raced PAC12 opponent Oregon State today in Corvallis and came home with a win with the final score being 136.5 to 124.5.
"It was a really great win today. Not the fastest swimming we have done this year, but by far the best competitiveness we have shown as a team," Mark Sowa said. "We knew that the Beavers were going to give us their best because they were celebrating ten seniors and it was their last dual meet. Our girls responded and were incredibly tenacious."
The distance events were strong for the Vandals today as sophomores Sarah Hall, Erica King, and Emily Bruneel placed first, second, and third in the 1,000 freestyle.
Sophomore Clothilde Peseux had a successful day in the pool capturing first place in the 100, and 200 breastroke, along with the 200 individual medley.
"Across the board I am very proud of our team's effort and focus today. Today was a good day to be a Vandal," Sowa said.
The Vandals will host the final dual meet of the season against Grand Canyon University on February 4th at the UI Swim Center. This will be the senior meet and will be the last competition before the Vandals head to Houston for WAC Conference Championship on February 22nd. Â
