@VandalsWBB Heads to Montana

MISSOULA, Mont.—The Idaho women's basketball team looks for its first Big Sky win of the season on Thursday. The Vandals make the trip to Dahlberg Arena to face Montana. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. PT.

Quotable: "I think Montana struggled with some injuries. They happened early in their season. It looks like they are starting to feel a lot more comfortable now. Their younger kids are playing a lot better. I think Shannon has done a great job of coaching them up and getting them ready to play. It is always a big challenge to go to Missoula and try and get a 'W'. We are going to have to bring our best effort." - head coach Jon Newlee.

About Idaho: The Vandals opened Big Sky play with a 67-57 loss at Eastern Washington last week. Overall, Idaho was 1-1 on the week, gaining a win over Lewis-Clark State. Junior Geraldine McCorkell led the team with 26 points last week. 

About the Opponent: The Lady Griz, under first-year head coach Shannon Schweyen, have had a rough start to the season. Montana is 3-10 going into Thursday's game, falling last week to Weber State and Idaho State.

The Match-Up: Thursday marks the 50th all-time meeting between the two schools. Montana holds a decisive 41-8 lead in the series. Idaho broke a six-game losing streak with a 78-61 win in Moscow last season. McCorkell led Idaho with 16 points. Christina Salvatore recorded a double-double, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

Conference Openers: Idaho is now 3-6 in league openers under head coach Jon Newlee.

Giveaways: Idaho turned the ball over an uncharacteristic 21 times in its loss to EWU.

Foul Play: The Vandals got called for a season-high 25 fouls in their loss at EWU. The Eagles shot an opponent season-high 26 free throws.

Close Encounters: Three of Idaho's five wins this season have been by margins of two, three and four points. Idaho is 3-4 in games decided by 10 points or less this season. 

Short End: Three of Idaho's losses this season have come down to the wire, the latest being a three-point loss at Oregon. Idaho has losses of one, two and three points this season.

Charitable: Idaho is ranked 21st in the nation with a 76.6 free throw percentage, second in the Big Sky.

Keep away: Idaho's 159 turnovers this season rank 12th fewest in the NCAA. It's 13.3 per game are least in the Big Sky and 21st nationally. 

Make it Rain: The Vandals are averaging 9.7 3FGM per game, ranking second in the Big Sky and fifth in the NCAA. 

Playing Nice: Idaho has been whistled for 1193 total fouls this season, the second fewest in the Big Sky (32nd NCAA). The team is averaging 16.1 personal fouls per game, third in the Big Sky.

Ball Control: Idaho ranks third in the Big Sky (69th NCAA) with an assist/turnover ratio of 1.06.
