OGDEN, Utah- Idaho junior
Sophie Hausmann was named the Big Sky Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday. Hausmann took second place at the UC Irvine Invitational earlier in the week, shooting 6-under. It is the fourth such honor of Hausmann's career and her first of the season.
Â
A 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole of the tournament vaulted Hausmann to the runner-up finish. It was her best showing of the fall in terms of place and score. She was under par in each of the three rounds, shooing 71, 69, 70, respectively, to card a 210 at the Santa Ana Country Club. Hausmann totaled 14 birdies across the three rounds.
Â
Hausmann guided the Vandals to a fourth-place team finish at the UC Irvine Invitational, the team's fall finale. Idaho recorded top-10 team finishes in each of its five fall tournaments, including three times in the top five.
Â
The spring season will begin Feb. 12 and 13, at The Gold Rush in Long Beach, Calif. Hausmann won the tournament last season, posting a single-round course record 65 on the final day en route to a tournament-record total score of 204.
