MOSCOW, Idaho- Colt Sherrell will join the Idaho men's golf program beginning with the 2018-19 season, head coach
David Nuhn announced Wednesday. Sherrell, a native of Maple Valley, Wash., will arrive in the fall as a freshman.
"I am extremely excited Colt chose to join Idaho," Nuhn said. "Colt possesses maturity beyond his years and has a great attitude. He is very determined and I have no doubt he will start competing right away as a significant member of Vandal golf."
Sherrell finished second at the 2017 Pacifc Northwest Junior Golf Association Junior Championship in August. He competed at the 2017 United States Junior Amateur Championship and was named the Central Washington Player of the Year on the junior circuit.
A four-time first-team all-conference selection all four years at Tahoma High School, Sherrell's scoring average improved every year, capped by a one-under season average as a senior. He won 21 tournaments during his prep career.
Sherrell plans to major in business and has aspirations of starting his own business after college. He was a first-team all-conference academic selection three times and holds a 3.7 grade-point average. Off the course, he enjoys bow hunting and fly fishing.
