Â
PREVIEW: The Vandals are just one game behind the Eagles in the Big Sky standings, with just four games remaining after Friday. A win would be huge for the Vandals, vaulting them into what would effectively be a perfect tie. Excluding the Big Sky opener, both teams are 8-4 in conference play, with the exact same wins and the exact same losses.
Â
Last time out, both the Eagles and the Vandals earned road splits, falling to Northern Colorado and falling to second-seeded North Dakota.Â
Â
LAST MEETING: EWU got the best of Idaho in the first meeting, winning 69-62. The Eagles led by as many as 20 in the second half, but a furious late rally by the Vandals, mostly
Victor Sanders, kept the pressure on the Eagles until the final minute. The Vandals closed on a 22-9 run over the final six minutes, with Sanders scoring the final 18 himself.
Â
These teams have met a lot since Idaho rejoined the Big Sky ahead of the 2014-15 season. Since then, Idaho and EWU have met seven times, including back-to-back quarterfinal meetings in the Big Sky Tournament.
Â
RECORD CHASING: Sanders sits just outside the top-10 in Idaho single-season history in a number of categories. He sits just two free throws away from tying Jim Thacker ('67-'68) for 10
th on the single-season list and two 3's away from tying Orlando Lightfoot ('93-'94) for 10
th in that category. Sanders is 13 points away from cracking the top-10 as well.
