Vandals fourth at Thompson Invitational

The University of Idaho women's golf team finished fourth at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Kaneohe Klipper with a total team effort among a field with a host of ranked teams.

"It was a fun week," coach Lisa Johnson said. "The team performed at a very high level and improved each round. They worked relentlessly this off season and it's extremely rewarding to start the spring season with two top finishes."

The Vandals had rounds of 295 and 293 before playing their final 18 holes in 289 to finish at 877 – just three strokes out of Oklahoma State's 874 for second and two away from Washington State's 875 for third. Texas A&M won the tournament with a five-under 859.

Sophomore Michelle Kim had the low tournament for the Vandals with a three-over 219 for 19th place after firing a two-under 70 in her final round. Senior Amy Hasenoehrl, who had a hole in one during the second round, finished in a tie for 20th with a 220, while sophomore Sophie Hausmann tied for 23rd at 221; freshman Clara Moyano tied for 26th with a 222; freshman Danika Palm tied for 55th with a 229; freshman Laura Gerner tied for 62nd with a 232, and junior Kendall Gray had a 236 for 77th.
