MOSCOW, Idaho – GoVandals.com is bringing back the @VandalHoops Hotseat this summer, beginning with soon-to-be senior
Jordan Scott.
WHY IDAHO?
When I was trying to figure out where I wanted to go for college I was playing AAU basketball and Idaho was one of the schools that offered me. I came out on my visit, I fell in love with the campus, I really liked talking to the coaches. I liked the direction that it was headed and I liked what my life might look like if I decided to go here so I committed.
WHY BASKETBALL?
I don't play basketball because my family is big into sports. My dad played football, at the Air Force Academy, my mom played basketball there. But I don't play because either of them played. I didn't start playing basketball until I was in sixth grade. I actually hated sports. The only reason I started playing was because my older brother was playing and I wanted to be better than him at everything. I guess he did motivate me to start playing, but it isn't the reason I play now. I fell in love with the game, I really enjoy playing it. That's the real reason I play it.
WHAT'S YOUR ROLE WITH THE TEAM?
Each year in the offseason my goal is to just get better. I work really hard in the offseason to try to help the team win in any way possible. As far as my role goes, I won't find that out until we actually get into the season, but right now I'm going to keep working because every day matters. I'm going to work and give myself the best shot to be able to help the team win.
YOU'RE VERY ACTIVE IN THE VANDAL COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, WHAT MADE YOU GET SO INVOLVED?
Since I've been at Idaho the athlete community has become kind of like a second family to me. Obviously my team is my second family, but being friends with all these other athletes has given me a chance to really branch out. I've made some great friends, learned a lot, and it's been a really good experience for me. It's really amped up my college experience.
EXPECTATIONS FOR SENIOR YEAR
We obviously had a really good year this last year, and that was really awesome, and we have the core of the group coming back. We have a good chance at our ultimate goal, which is to win a Big Sky Championship and go to the NCAA Tournament and hopefully steal a couple there. That is the expectation for this upcoming year. That's what we want to do.
