MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track & Field program is thrilled to announce the commitment of Jenner Higgins of Sheldon High School in Eugene, Ore.
Higgins won the Oregon 6A State Championship in the 800m as a junior and ran a leg on the State Championship 4 x 400m relay team for the Irish. His team won the team championships at the 2016 Oregon Track & Field Championships.
Higgins also placed fourth in the 800m as a sophomore. He has personal bests of 1:52.9 in the 800m, 3:57.9 in the 1500m, and 50.12 in the 400m. He also ran all four years on the cross country team, running at the state championships all four years. His highest finish at state in cross country was 37th as a senior and he has a 5000m XC personal best of 16:05.
Higgins is a talented multi-sport athlete having played basketball in the winter throughout high school. He was the starting point guard during his junior and senior seasons. Higgins has been coached at Sheldon HS by coach Brayce Forsha.
Higgins is very successful in the classroom as well and plans to study either Chemical or Biological Engineering at the University of Idaho.
