Alycia Wodke was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday. Wodke's defensive play helped Idaho to a 2-0 start to the conference season, sweeping both Montana schools last week.
Wodke, a transfer from College of Southern Idaho, totaled 37 digs last week in six sets for the Vandals. She led Idaho defensively in both matches. Wodke opened the week with 11 digs in Idaho's quick win over Montana State. She turned around on Saturday and matched her season-high with 26 digs against the Lady Griz.
Her performance against Montana marked the most digs in a three-set match in the conference this season. Wodke currently leads the Big Sky with 6.17 digs per set in Big Sky play. On the season she ranks fourth in the conference with 4.35 digs per set.
The first year Vandal has totaled a team-high 187 digs this season. She is also second on the team in assists.
This is the first weekly award of Wodke's career at Idaho. She also is the first Vandal to earn player of the week honors since 2015.
The Vandals are tied atop the Big Sky North Division with North Dakota and Eastern Washington. Idaho will head out on the road this week to UND and Northern Colorado.
