ABOUT UNLV:
The Rebels dropped their season opener Saturday, 43-40 against Howard. UNLV rushed for 355 yards in the loss, but was unable to overcome three lost fumbles and a 4-for-11 third-down conversion rate. Redshirt freshman quarterback Armani Rogers earned the start under center. Rogers threw for 220 yards and rushed for another 82. Senior wide receiver Devonte Boyd ranks No. 3 nationally in receiving yards among active players.
All-Time Series: Idaho leads 4-3

REBEL REMATCH: Idaho and UNLV met last season in what many consider the turning point for the Vandals. Matt Linehan ran for a score in the fourth quarter and threw the game-winning touchdown in overtime to give Idaho a 33-30 victory. It was the first nonconference road win for the Vandals since 2010. Kaden Elliss intercepted two passes in the game, returning one for the first touchdown of the game.

STREAKING: Idaho is riding a six-game win streak, including the final five games of the 2016 season. It is tied for the ninth-longest active winning streak in the country. It is Idaho's first six-game win streak since 1994, and tied for the sixth-longest in program history.

DEFENSE COMES THROUGH: Head coach Paul Petrino sang the praises of his defense throughout fall camp. Everyone found out why in the season opener. The Vandals held Sacramento State to six points and 190 yards of total offense. It was the first time Idaho held an opponent to single-digit scoring since Nov. 20, 2010, against Utah State. The 190 yards of total offense are the fewest surrendered since Oct. 2, 2010, against Western Michigan. The Vandals were stout in all facets of defense, holding the Hornets to fewer than 100 yards rushing and passing. The last time an opponent failed to crack triple digits in both categories was Oct. 23, 1999, against Utah State.
