edLAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Vandals men's tennis team fell short in the semifinals of the ITA Mountain Regional Championships on Thursday.
Idaho's
Guilherme Scarpelli was defeated by second-seeded and nationally ranked Ricky Hernandez of the University of New Mexico in the singles semifinals, 6-1, 6-3.
"I'm pleased with the way Scarpelli competed during the tournament, said head coach
Daniel Hangstefer. "I think it was a nice step forward for this program and hopefully inspires other guys on our team that they can also compete and win against the best players in our region. We are looking forward to getting back out on the practice courts."
In the double consolation's semifinals round,
Carlos Longhi Neto and
Esteban Santibanez suffered a loss to a duo, also from the University of New Mexico by a walkover.
