LAS VEGAS, Nev—Idaho's Guilherme Scarpelli advanced to semifinals singles at the ITA Regional Championship on Wednesday at the Darling Tennis Center.
 
In singles main draw, Scarpelli started the day out by upsetting 13th-seeded Ben Gaiardo of Brigham Young in a two-setter, 7-6, 6-3. He then followed up with another victory over Louis Menard of New Mexico State University in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Scarpelli will compete in the semifinals on Thursday.
 
Idaho also saw action in double consolation draw as Carlos Longhi Neto and Esteban Santibanez moved onto the semifinals after downing a pair from Southern Utah, 8-3. The Idaho duo received a BYE which moves them to semifinals play on Thursday.
 
Idaho returns to action on Thursday in day four of the 2018 ITA Mountain Region Championships.
