ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA: The Fighting Hawks are 5-3, ranked No. 25 in the AFCA Coaches' Poll and just outside of the top 25 in the STATS FCS Media Poll. North Dakota is led by a rushing attack that averages 263 yards per game on the ground, 10th-most nationally. Two running backs, Brady Oliveira and James Johannesson, have each eclipsed 600 rushing yards on the season and Johannesson rankes fifth in the FCS with 7.54 yards per carry. UND's defense pressures the quarterback to the tune of 3.5 sacks per game, fourth-most in the country.
All-Time Series: Idaho leads 2-0. Both previous meetings came in Moscow, in 2010 and 2011.
Â
MILITARY APPRECIATION: Idaho Athletics is hosting Military Appreciation Day at Saturday's football game. All active service personnel, veterans and their accompanying family members will receive free admission. Special pre- and in-game recognitions will honor local military members and first responders.
Â
CONFERENCE CLARITY: North Dakota is playing the 2018 and 2019 seasons as an FCS Independent before officially joining the Missouri Valley Conference. During the transition, UND will play a Big Sky schedule. The Fighting Hawks will not factor into the Big Sky standings, but the games it plays against league opponents will count as a conference game for opposing teams. North Dakota is 3-2 against Big Sky teams this season. The Fighting Hawks posted wins against Northern Colorado, Montana and Sacramento State while suffering narrow losses against Idaho State and Weber State.
Â
DOME SWEET DOME: Idaho is unbeaten at home this season. The Vandals are 14-17 in the Kibbie Dome under head coach
Paul Petrino, including a 4-1 mark in 2016. That is the only time since 2004 Idaho finished a season with one loss or fewer and the best single-season home winning percentage since 1996 when the Vandals went 5-0 in the Dome - their last year without a home loss. Idaho football has recorded six unbeaten home seasons since the Kibbie Dome opened in 1975 (1976, 1982, 1988, 1994, 1995 and 1996).
Â
CAREER YEAR: Fifth-year senior wide receiver
David Ungerer has made the most of his final collegiate season. Ungerer leads the Vandals with career highs in receptions (50), receiving yards (503), punt return yards (177) and all-purpose yards (823). His 134 kick return yards are also a career high. Ungerer eclipsed a pair of career milestones last month. He now has 103 career receptions and is eight catches away from breaking into the school's all-time top 20. He also has more than 1,000 career receiving yards.
Â
LIVING BEHIND THE LINE: Kaden Elliss is among the Big Sky and FCS leaders with 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks this season. Elliss has 41.5 career tackles for loss, just a half TFL shy of sixth place on Idaho's all-time list. No Vandal has cracked the top six since 2000.
Â
CARRYING ON TRADITION: Isaiah Saunders has amassed 1,938 career rushing yards. Saunders currently ranks 13th in program history for career rushing yards. He is looking to become the 13th Vandal to reach the 2,000-yard milestone, where he would join former backfield mate and current student assistant coach
Aaron Duckworth (2014-17).
