Swimmers Off to Husky Invite

Idaho at Husky Invitational
Host: Husky Swimming Foundation
Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, 2018
Federal Way, Wash.

Swimming student-athletes from Idaho's women's swimming and diving team will compete at the Husky Invitational Friday through Sunday, at King Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

THE FIELD: The meet will feature five regional college teams, as well as elite west coast high school clubs. Idaho will be joined in the collegiate ranks by Oregon State, Seattle University, Alaska-Fairbanks and Simon Fraser. Team scoring for the collegiate teams will be kept separately from the club teams. The Vandals will see Sim Fraser and Oregon State again in dual meets at the end of the regular season.

MIDSEASON MEET: This is Idaho's first appearance at the Husky Invitational since 2013. The Vandals have spent the last three years in Houston for their midseason meet at the Phill Hansel Invitational. Idaho took fourth at last season's Phill Hansel.

TOP OF THE CHARTS: Idaho boasts the top collegiate seed in eight individual events and one relay event. Sarah Hall is the top overall seed in the 1650-yard freestyle. Leah Fisk is the top collegiate swimmer entered in three events: the 100-, 200- and 500-yard freestyle races. The Vandals also boast the best 800-yard freestyle team out of the collegiate entries.

DIVING: The Husky Invitational does not include diving events. Idaho's diving contingent traveled to Flagstaff, Ariz., for the Lumberjack Diving Invitational, Nov. 16-18, as their midseason meet.

IMANAKA REPEATS: Idaho redshirt senior Nikki Imanaka was named the Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week following the Lumberjack Diving Invite. It was Imanaka's second consecutive weekly award. Imanaka finished in the top seven of all three events at the meet, leading the Vandals on both springboards. Imanaka led all WAC divers with a second-place finish on three-meter. She The Kaneohe, Hawaii, native was Idaho's top finisher on one-meter, taking fifth. In her first attempt of the year on platform, Imanaka scored 179.45 to finish seventh.

HALFWAY HOME: The Husky Invitational marks the midway point in the Vandals' 2018-19 season. After a four-week winter training period, Idaho will have three more dual meets and one tri-dual before the WAC Championships take place at the end of February, in Houston.
