Vandals Edge CSUN, 88-73

MOSCOW, Idaho—Splash Sisters, Mikayla Ferenz (24) and Taylor Pierce (23) scored a combined 47 points to help Idaho beat CSUN Matadors on Tuesday night inside Memorial Gym.

Despite a slow start in the first minutes of the game, the Vandals soon found its hot streak behind the arc shooting 44 percent in the first quarter and by halftime pulling an efficient 59 percent from long range. Idaho finished the game going 15-for-28 (53 percent) from three-point range.
Gaining their largest lead in the last four minutes of the third quarter, 21 points, the Matadors would only cut that deficit by six points going into the fourth. The Vandals used their shooting to combat the inside presence of the Matadors. The fourth quarter saw CSUN fighting for a comeback but Idaho kept the deficit in double digits. Top performers Ferenz and Taylor played all four quarters and finished 16-of-35 from the floor with 10 made three between the two of them. Sophomore Natalie Klinker finished with 16 points and accounted for six of Idaho's 33 rebounds while Ferenz grabbed the game-high of seven boards and seven assists. Pierce and freshmen Gina Marxen also added five boards.

Channon Fluker collected her first double-double of the year collecting 16 points and 17 rebounds while three other CSUN players post double-digit points.

BIG PICTURE
Idaho had seven different scorers with Newlee playing a nine-man rotation. The Vandals capitalized on the turnovers of the Matadors grabbing 23 points on turnovers. CSU dominated the paint with 48 points from the area.
