Vandals Start Conference

POCATELLO, Idaho-- Conference play is here! The Idaho women's basketball team (3-6) begins Big Sky action at Idaho State (5-4), in the ICCU Battle of the Domes at 1 p.m. PT on Saturday in Reed Gym. FASTBREAK

  • The Vandals begin conference play 3-6 after suffering a loss to AP ranked Gonzaga (No. 20) before Christmas break.

  • Averaging 70.9 points per game in nine contests, Idaho ranks 3rd best in the league for scoring offense. The Vandals are shooting 39.5 percent (5th in Big Sky) from the floor and 34.1 percent for the three (1st in Big Sky).

  • Idaho has protected the rock so far this season ranking 2nd nationally and 1st in the league in fewest turnovers (110). The Vandals has also found itself ranked 9th nationally and 1st in the league in turnovers per game with 12.1.

  • Senior Mikayla Ferenz tops the charts for the Vandals in seven Big Sky categories: FG attempts (186), FG Made (72), Points (193), Points Per Game (21.4), 3PFG attempted (101), 3PFG made (31), 3PFG per game (3.44).

SCOUTING THE BENGALS

  • The Bengals are 5-4 coming out of the non-conference season with an undefeated, 3-0, record at home and a 1-3 record on the road. ISU will have had a three-week break since its last game come Saturday

  • The Bengals bested Pepperdine, 65-63, giving the team a three-game win streak at home.

  • During the non-conference season, ISU has averaged 63.7 points per game (5th in Big Sky) shooting 43.4 percent (1st in Big Sky) from the floor.

  • Seniors Saylair Grandon and Grace Kenyon average 12-plus points per game while junior Estefania Ors averages 11.5 ppg.

ALL-TIME SERIES NOTES:
Idaho leads the all-time series 30-12 with an 11-9 record in Pocatello. In their last meeting, ISU bested the Vandals 62-52 in Moscow on Feb. 22, 2018.
