MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho women's tennis kept to its winning ways on Friday, defeating Weber State, 6-1, for its eighth straight win.
The team has been dominant during the stretch that has lasted more than a month. And the Vandals have continued to improve throughout, conceding just one point in the last four matches.
The Vandals got the day started by winning the doubles point.
Marta Magalhães and
Shion Watabe made quick work at No. 3, 6-1, while
Marianna Petrei and
Maria Tavares were victorious at No. 1, 7-6 (5).
Idaho kept up the hot play in singles, taking five-of-six points.
Lucia Badillos was dominant, winning at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0. Tavares extended her team-best win streak to nine matches, taking No. 2, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-1.
Petrei got out to a slow start at No.1, but responded well to take the point, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Laura Spataro and Magalhães also came out on top, with Spataro winning at No. 4, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0, and Magalhães winning at No. 6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.
Idaho concludes the regular season tomorrow, with Southern Utah coming to Moscow. Competition begins at noon.
