Football Is Back

The Vandals reported for camp Friday, and their first practice is Saturday

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho football reported for the first official day of fall camp Friday, diving into the team and position meetings. The Vandals will hold their first practice Saturday, at 6 p.m. Head coach Paul Petrino held a press conference to discuss the opening of the 2018 season.

"They had a great summer," Petrino said of his team. "You get a vibe of each team and this one is very close. They really care about each other. They work for each other. I'm very excited about this team and look forward to getting out there on the field tomorrow and getting going."

The Vandals have 18 practices on the fall camp schedule - including two scrimmages and a mock game - over the next three weeks. With 35 letterwinners and 11 starters returning, the Vandals have a veteran group with a handful of roles presumably solidified. Petrino spoke to the contrary while discussing the beauty of this time of year.

"You go into fall camp with an idea of how you're going to go about it and sometimes it changes a little," Petrino said. "One of the biggest things of being a leader is finding out what guys do best and then putting them in a position to do it. That's a big thing about fall camp - find out what all of our guys do best and put them in a position to be the best they can be."
