MALIBU, Calif. – A slow start was too much to overcome for Idaho volleyball, falling in four sets at Pepperdine on Friday night.  The Vandals dropped the first two sets, but recovered to take the third, before falling in four.
 
Once again, Kaela Straw led the squad in kills, finishing with 13.  DeVonne Ryter was outstanding, hitting .588 with 11 kills and just one error.
 
Idaho went point-for-point with Pepperdine to get the first set started, eventually getting level at 7-7.  But the Waves turned things on from there with a 9-2 run to pull away, finishing with a 25-15 first set win.  Idaho kept things close in the second set, but ultimately fell 25-21.
 
The Vandals bounced back to take the third set, 25-21.  Pepperdine led early, but Idaho was able to recover with a long run to claim the lead at 19-18.  The Vandals then closed out strong, with a 6-3 run to take the set.
 
Pepperdine struck back in the fourth to take the match.  After splitting points early, the Waves went on a run to pull away and take the set, 25-15.
