MOSCOW, Idaho— The 2018 Idaho volleyball staff was completed on Monday with the addition of assistant coach Renee Bordelon. Head coach Debbie Buchanan announced the hiring two days before the Vandals are set to open fall camp on Wednesday.

"I am really excited to have Renee join our coaching staff," Buchanan commented. "Renee has great playing and coaching experience and has a love for the game.  She has wanted to get back into college coaching so this is the perfect opportunity for all of us."

No stranger to the Palouse, Bordelon played two seasons at Washington State (2008-09). In her first season, she was WSU's setter in 84 of the team's 103 sets. She was the Cougar's setter for all 111 sets her senior year, averaging 11.47 assists per set. Bordelon led the Cougars to a top-25 ranking (21st) as well as their first trip back to the NCAA Tournament after a seven-year absence. She totaled 35 assists in WSU's first-round tournament-loss to Northern Iowa. In her two years, she totaled 2,093 assists which at the time was sixth best all-time at WSU. Bordelon was also named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Sept. 8, 2009.

Bordelon, a Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, native, spent three seasons (2012-14) as a volunteer assistant at Gonzaga. Her responsibilities included coaching the team's setters, managing video and tracking the team's stats. Bordelon got her master's degree from Gonzaga in organizational leadership with an emphasis on team building. After leaving Gonzaga, Bordelon coached at the club and high school level.

The Vandals report for fall camp on Tuesday and will hold their first practices on Wednesday. Idaho returns six seniors in 2018. Haylee Mathis, Reece Carman, Kaela Straw, Alycia Wodke, DeVonne Ryter and Sarah Sharp will all look to help lead Vandals back to the conference postseason for the 14th consecutive season.
