FULLERTON, Calif. – Idaho volleyball (6-6) closed out the non-conference schedule with a four-set win over Cal State Fullerton (6-6) on the road. Big Sky play gets underway this week.
Kennedy Warren was outstanding, especially defensively. She finished with a season-best 11 blocks, to go along with six kills.
Reece Carman hit .300 with 15 kills and six blocks, while
Sarah Sharp also added 15 kills.
The Vandals took control early, winning the first set 25-17. Idaho settled in during the opening points, but rattled off a 6-1 run midway through the set to get some breathing room. After a small run from the Titans, the Vandals turned it on again to close out the set with a 4-1 run. The attack was balanced, with five Vandals recording a kill, but the defense was even better. Idaho made six team blocks in the opening set.
The second set got out to a similar start, before Fullerton was able to build a lead of its own. The Titans would eventually get up, 23-19, before a 4-0 run by the Vandals leveled the score. Fullerton was able to close things out from there, scoring four of the next six points to win the set, 27-25.
Another close set followed. The score stayed within two points for most of the third, with the Titans taking a 19-18 advantage late. The Vandals, however, would go on a 4-0 run from there, and would handle their business late to win the set 25-23.
Idaho came out and just dominated the fourth. The Vandals doubled-up the Titans for most of the set, and cruised to the 25-17 win.
