MALIBU, Calif. – Idaho volleyball swept aside North Texas in its final match of the Pepperdine/CSUN Invitational Sunday, in Malibu, Calif. The Vandals (4-2) hit .306 for the match, while holding the Mean Green (3-4) to just .188, en route to winning 25-22, 25-18, 25-22.
Kaela Straw led Idaho with 16 kills, hitting .524.

Straw and
DeVonne Ryter were named to the Pepperdine/CSUN Invitational All-Tournament Team. Ryter had nine kills and five blocks in the finale.

"It was a good weekend for us to go 2-1," said head coach
Debbie Buchanan. "We played a very tough Pepperdine squad, who ran a fast offense. Northridge and North Texas were similar, and I thought we were able to make some changes and adjustments that helped us."
Â
North Texas led the first set 12-11, before Idaho ran off eight of the next 10 points to take control. The Vandals never looked back. They went on to score 11 of the last 15 points in the second set and never trailed in the third set. It is the second sweep of the season for Idaho.
Â
"We have some things to go back and see if we can improve," Buchanan said. "We really need to get our serving and passing game a little better. Overall I was proud the girls hung in there and fought through. We got better each day."
Â
The Vandals continue the season at the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu, starting Thursday against host Hawai'i. Idaho will also take on San Diego State (Friday) and Portland (Saturday) at the tournament.
