OGDEN, Utah - Idaho senior
Michelle Kim was named Big Sky Conference Co-Women's Golfer of the Week Wednesday, sharing the honor with Sacramento State's Sofie Babic. Kim finished in a tie for fifth this week at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate, shooting 1-over (71-72-71) to lead the Vandals to a third-place team finish.
Kim carded eight birdies during the tournament. In the first round, she was 3-over through 15 holes but finished strong with three consecutive birdies to finish the round at even par. Kim's late flurry gave her Idaho's best score of the opening round and kept the Vandals within reach of the field at eighth place. After Kim shot 1-over in the second round and helped Idaho climb to sixth, she again shot even par in the final round to post the team's lowest score, moving up to three spots as a team and four spots individually.
The weekly award is Kim's first of the season and first since winning three as a freshman.
Idaho returns to action Oct. 5-7, at the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate hosted by Denver in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
