WOMEN'S RESULTS | MEN'S RESULTS
MISSOULA, Mont. – Idaho cross country made the quick trip over to Missoula on Friday for the Montana Invitational, with the women winning the team title and the men finishing in second.
The women defeated six other Division I opponents, including three Big Sky schools, and finished with a score of 20. The men were also the top-finishing Big Sky school by defeating Montana, Montana State and Eastern Washington, but falling to Gonzaga. The Bulldogs entered the weekend ranked 8
th in the West Region.
The women got things off to a tremendous start, with
Kara Story taking the individual title in the 5k. She completed the course in 18:05.60, winning by nearly 12 seconds.
Andrea Condie came in second overall with a time of 18:17.50.
Malaina Thacker held off Montana's Erica Simison down the stretch to take third at 18:31.20.
Erin Hagen and
Faith Dilmore also finished in the top-8. Hagen placed sixth with a time of 18:46.60, while Dilmore was eighth at 18:57.90.
The men were paced by
Skylar Ovnicek who finished ninth overall on the 8k course with a time of 25:32.40.
Fabian Cardenas and
Michael McCausland were close behind in 11
th and 12
th. Cardenas was able to narrowly beat McCausland, as they finished in 25:40.50 and 25:40.80, respectively.
Dwain Stucker placed fourth for the Vandals, finishing in 17
th with a time of 25:51.00. He was followed closely by
Grayson Ollar at 25:51.40.
Next up is the final regular season meet of the year, the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, Calif.
