IDAHO NOTES | LIVE STATS (ALL MATCHES) | LIVE STREAM (HAWAII ONLY)
HONOLULU, Hawaii – A series of tough tests lies ahead for Idaho volleyball (4-2) with the Outrigger Volleyball Challenge coming up this weekend. The Vandals will open against the host school, Hawaii (2-2) at 10 p.m. PDT on Thursday, before facing San Diego State (1-5) on Friday at 7:45 p.m. and Portland (6-0) on Saturday at 6 p.m.

LAST WEEKEND: The Vandals went 2-1 at the Pepperdine/CSUN Challenge. Idaho got out to a slow start against Pepperdine, dropping the opening match in four sets, but responded well over the weekend. The Vandals bounced back on Saturday to defeat CSUN in five sets on its home court. Idaho would then go on to dominate North Texas in three sets on Sunday morning.
DeVonne Ryter and
Kaela Straw earned all-tournament recognition.
RYTER POTW: Ryter was also named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts over the weekend. She hit .500 over three matches, finishing with 30 kills.
HOT START: Idaho is out to its best start in nearly a decade. Idaho's four wins through the opening two weekends are the most by a Vandal squad since the 2009 season, when Idaho began the year 4-1 overall.
ABOUT HAWAII: Hawaii is just 2-2 on the year after having its opening tournament canceled. The Rainbow Wahine lost a pair of three set matches to Kansas State, before defeating Coastal Carolina in three sets twice.
ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: San Diego State is just 1-5 on the year, but has played a challenging schedule. The Aztecs already lost to Portland once this year, at the Aztec Invitational on opening weekend.
ABOUT PORTLAND: Portland enters the weekend with a perfect record of 6-0. The Pilots have already defeated San Diego State once this season, and also took down Big Sky foe Montana State.
