OGDEN, Utah – Julia Byerlein had a performance for the record books on Friday night in Idaho's (3-9-2, 0-2-2) 1-1 tie at Weber State (2-9-2, 1-2-2)
Byerlein finished with 13 saves. She is the first Idaho goalkeeper with 10-plus saves in a game since Torell Stewart did it in back-to-back games in early 2014. Byerlein's 13 saves are the most since Liz Boyden made 14 against UC Santa Barbara in 2011.
Weber State got on the board first, in the 72
nd minute. The cross bounced all the way through the box to Olivia Barton, who calmly slotted a shot into the corner of the net to take the 1-0 lead.
Idaho didn't need long to level the score.
Maddie Haas got the play started with the corner, and
Savannah Foster rose up for the header and the goal.
Next up, Idaho takes on Idaho State in the ICCU Battle of the Domes on Sunday at 12 p.m. Pacific.
