MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track & Field program is thrilled to announce the signing of Maya Kobylanski of Southridge High School and Ocean Athletics in the province of British Columbia in Canada. Kobylanski is one of the top Canadian distance athletes who specializes in the steeplechase.

Kobylanski is a Provincial Champion, having placed first in the 1500-meter steeplechase at the British Columbia Track & Field ChamÂpionships in 2017, she placed second in 2018 and third in 2019. She also has placed third in the 3000-meters in 2017 and 2018 at the BC Championships. Her other outstanding places on the track at the national level include third in the Canadian Youth Track & Field Championships in the 1500m steeplechase in 2017 and fourth in the 2000m steeplechase in 2018. Kobylanski has personÂal bests of 6:55.05 in the 2000-meter steeplechase, 5:01.80 in the 1500-meter steeplechase, 4:41.01 in the 1500, and 10:26.62 in the 3k.

Kobylanski is also an outstanding and national caliber cross country athlete. She placed 11th at the U18 Canadian Cross Country Championships in 2018 and has been incredibly consisÂtent at the British Columbia Cross Country Championships placÂing third in 2017, third in 2018, and second in 2019.
Also an outstanding student, Kobylanski has received numerous awards for her performance in the classroom, including the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards. She hopes to capture the gold this year.
