Vandals Fall in Cheney

CHENEY, Wash. – A slow start to the second half doomed the Vandals on the road, as Idaho fell at Eastern Washington, 82-57, in a matinee game on Monday.

THE GAME

Most of the first half went back-and-forth as both teams found success attacking the paint.  The Vandals were able to get within a bucket, at 27-25, on a floater by Cameron Tyson with under four minutes to play, but EWU closed on a 7-2 run to take the 34-27 advantage into the break.

The Eagles came out hot in the second and ballooned their lead to 20 by midway through the frame.  The Vandals worked to cut into the deficit, with Tyson knocking down back-to-back triples at one point, but were unable to get back within 17.  EWU kept up the pressure late, eventually going on to win 82-57.

Tyson led all scorers with 18 points, connecting on 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.

THE NAME

Scott Blakney.  Blakney finished with 12 points on the day, connecting on 6-of-10 from the field.  He also added three rebounds.
