MOSCOW, Idaho-- Returning to the Palouse, David Gannon has been named assistant coach for Idaho volleyball, head coach
Debbie Buchanan announced Monday.
"I'm really excited to announce that David is returning to the University of Idaho as our new assistant coach," Buchanan said. "It was important for me to hire a qualified and quality coach that I trust; and who is also familiar with the Big Sky Conference, NW recruiting and the University of Idaho. This is going to be a smooth transition while we are in the middle of spring training and recruiting."
Gannon joins the Vandals coaching staff after spending the past four seasons with Weber State University, where he served as an assistant coach with the Wildcats since March 2015.
During his time with Weber State, he helped the Wildcats to its best season record last year in 2018 with an 18-10 finish and Big Sky Conference Tournament appearance.
Gannon is no stranger to the University of Idaho, where he spent the 2014 season with the Vandals as the Director of Volleyball Operations.
Prior to his stint with Idaho, which he helped lead to a 15-14 overall record and an 11-5 mark the Big Sky Conference's North Division, Gannon was an assistant coach at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz., for three seasons. He also coached juniors clubs in Arizona from 2010-13. During the summers of 2013 and 2014, Gannon worked with USA Volleyball High Performance in Colorado Springs, Colo., as an assistant coach during youth/select A2 Camp.
Gannon received his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in 2013. Gannon, and his wife, Lynnette, have two daughters, Gwen (5) and Mae (2).
