BOISE, Idaho— The top-seeded Idaho women's basketball team (19-10, 16-4) will face No. 8 Northern Arizona Tuesday in the second round of the 2019 Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Championship at Noon MT/11 a.m. PT. Idaho finished the regular season earning its first Big Sky league title under head coach
Jon Newlee despite dropping its final regular-season game on Saturday against Idaho State, 73-67. It was Senior Day for Idaho's decorated seniors,
Mikayla Ferenz and
Taylor Pierce who combined for 43 points on the loss.

The league announced All-Conference team which was headlined by Ferenz who received the coveted Most Valuable Player honor as well as All-Big Sky First Team.
Gina Marxen was tabbed with Freshman of the year, a first for the program. Along with Ferenz, Pierce was selected as All-Big Sky First Team while Coach Newlee took home Coach of the Year.

Ferenz, now a two-time Academic All-America, was also selected as the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for Division I women's basketball. Ferenz is first Idaho student and first woman in Big Sky Conference history to be named Academic All-American of the Year in any sport.

Idaho is 20-9 all-time versus Northern Arizona. The Vandals swept the two-game season series with its last win at home by the score of 90-72.
