Women’s Hoops advance to WNIT Round Two

MOSCOW, Idaho—
Vandal women's basketball team is bringing postseason hoops to Moscow! With a 79-64 win at Loyola Marymount Thursday night, the team secured a spot in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Idaho will host Denver at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Gym.

This marks just the second time in program history the Vandals will host a postseason game. It is also the second time the women have advanced in the WNIT — the last time came in 1986 when the Vandals went on to win the tournament.

The home game is another opportunity to see two of the most accomplished student-athletes in school history take the floor. The Splash Sisters — Mikayla Ferenz and Taylor Pierce — have combined to hit more three-pointers than any pair of teammates in NCAA history. Pierce set the all-time national record for three-pointers in a season in Thursday night's win. Earlier this month, Ferenz — the Big Sky's all-time leading scorer — was named the Division I Academic All-American of the Year.

The Big Sky Regular-Season Champions finished the season 20-11, after falling to Portland State in the conference tournament semifinals. Idaho earned the Big Sky's auto-bid finishing at the No. 1 seed at the end of the conference season.
