Box Score OGDEN, Utah – Idaho ran into a motivated Weber State squad on Thursday night in Ogden and it showed, with the Vandals eventually falling to the Wildcats, 93-59. Just one game remains for the Vandals in the regular season, at Idaho State for the Battle of the Domes on Saturday night.
THE GAME
Turnovers plagued the Vandals in the first half. Idaho committed 13 turnovers in the opening frame, leading to 16 Weber State points. Idaho couldn't get going late, with Weber State closing on a 22-4 run to take the 49-23 advantage into the break.
Things improved in the second, but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half. Foul trouble was an issue all night, and it showed in the second with three starters picking up their fourth fouls early.
Jared Rodriguez and
Cameron Tyson were able to get going with 10 points each in the second, but the Wildcats kept the pressure on and took the 93-59 win.
THE NAME
Xavier Smith. Smith came off the bench to score eight points and grab five rebounds, his best totals against Division I opponents this season.
THE NOTES
Idaho falls to 5-25 on the season, including 2-17 in Big Sky play. Weber State moves to 17-13, including 11-8 in Big Sky play.
Cameron Tyson connected on three 3-pointers, giving him 100 on the season. He is just the third Vandal ever to make 100 in a season.
Victor Sanders hit 101 two years ago, and Connor Hill made 108 during his senior season in 2014-15. He is now in 16
th in Big Sky history for 3's in a season.
Idaho tied a season-high with 22 turnovers. It has happened three times this year, in the three largest losses of the season.
Idaho shot 36.5 percent (19-of-52) from the floor and 30 percent (6-of-20) from beyond the arc. Weber State finished the night at 50.7 percent (35-of-69) from the field and 25 percent (5-of-20) from range. Idaho was outrebounded, 39-35.
