DAVIS, Calif. - Idaho men's golf opened the El Macero Classic with a 34-over 322 in the first round Friday. The Vandals are in 15th place through 18 holes of the three-day 54-hole tournament. Cole Chrisman and Sean Langham led the way with matching scores of 6-over (78).

Langham opened his round with a double-bogey, but recovered with a birdie on his fifth hole and was 1-over at the turn. A six-hole run that included five bogeys on his back nine brought the junior home with a 78. Chrisman was also 1-over at the turn before hitting a stretch of five straight bogeys on his back nine. A birdie on 17 helped salvage his 78.

Idaho returns to the course Saturday, for the second round. The Vandals tee off from the first tee beginning at 1:20 p.m. PT.
