MOSCOW, Idaho – Jeff Cotton continued his strong spring performance Friday, with four touchdown receptions to lead Gold to a 70-20 victory in Idaho's annual Silver & Gold Spring Game.

Quarterbacks
Mason Petrino and
Colton Richardson split reps for the Gold team. Petrino was 17-for-22 for 307 yards and three touchdowns. Richardson was 16-of-18 for 175 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Redshirt freshman quarterback
Nikhil Nayar took all of the snaps for Silver, finishing 9-of-19 for 94 yards and a 37-yard scoring toss to
Connor Whitney.

Cotton hauled in 13 receptions for 217 yards. The redshirt senior caught eight passes from Petrino, including an 80-yard score to make it 21-0. Cotton's final touchdown of the evening came from
Colton Richardson, putting the Gold team on top 42-7.

Still it was
Cutrell Haywood who led the Vandals in receptions, racking up 15 on the day for 195 yards and one score. Haywood caught eight balls from Richardson and seven from Petrino, splitting his yardage nearly equally.

Running backs
Roshaun Johnson and
Aundre Carter led the ground game. Johnson ran 14 times for 139 yards and two scores, playing exclusively for Gold. Carter split time between both teams, totaling 13 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Safety
D'Andrei Pittman was the leading tackler, tallying nine stops for Silver. Pittman also hauled in an interception.

Linebackers
Christian Elliss and
Tre Walker each racked up seven tackles to lead the Gold squad.
Austin Holt contributed to the Gold team's defensive effort with two sacks among his three tackles.

Idaho will hold three closed practices next week to finish spring ball.

The 2019 season kicks off Aug. 31, at Penn State. The Vandals will open the upcoming home slate Sept. 7, against Central Washington.
