OGDEN, Utah – Idaho track and field student-athlete,
Zachary Short, has once again been named the Big Sky Male Field Athlete of the Week. It is the third time this month that Short has earned the recognition.
Short dominated in the shot put to win the event. His best throw of the day went 18.52 meters (60-9.25), giving Short the win by more than two full meters. He began competition in Corvallis with the discus, where he took third at 51.65 meters (169-5).
Short is currently ranked first in the Big Sky in the shot put, and has won the last three Big Sky Championships in the event (2018 indoor, 2018 outdoor, 2019 indoor). He is ranked third in the Big Sky in the discus.
Nationally, Short is ranked 20
th in the West in the shot put. He earned All-America Second Team honors during the indoor season after finishing 15
th at the NCAA Championships. Short is also ranked 48
th in the West in the discus. The top-48 in the West advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships First Rounds.
