MOSCOW, Idaho—Idaho volleyball head coach Debbie Buchanan announces the 2019 non-conference schedule, which will feature the Idaho Volleyball Classic in the Vandals' opening weekend inside Memorial Gym.
 
The Vandals kick off the season welcoming four teams to the Palouse, August 30-31.The home tournament will have a five team format with Idaho facing California Baptist University on Friday, Aug 30 before taking on Cal State Fullerton and the University of Illinois at Chicago, respectively, on Aug 31. Fellow Big Sky Conference member, Eastern Washington University rounds out the list of teams participating in the classic.
 
The following weekend, Idaho travels to Portland, Oregon for the University of Portland Tournament from September 6-7. The Vandals compete twice on Friday, Sept. 6, against the University of Portland and Utah State. The tourney ends with a clash of the Palouse when the Vandals take on Washington State University on Sept. 7.
 
Idaho continues the preseason on the road as they head to Las Vegas when the team take part in the UNLV Volleyball Tournament. On Sept. 13 the Vandals face-off with the host, UNLV, and the University of the Pacific. Idaho will then match up with Texas Tech of the Big 12 Conference.
 
The Vandals wrap up the non-conference slate, traveling to Phoenix, Arizona on Sept. 20-21 for the Grand Canyon University Tournament. Idaho has one match on Sept 20 against Nebraska Omaha and ends the tourney with a match up versus GCU and CSUN on Sept. 21.
 
Idaho, the Big Sky Regular Season Champions, posted a 23-10 mark overall, 15-3 in conference and advanced to the Big Sky Champion final in 2018. The Vandals return 11 letter winners and five freshman ahead of the new season.
