SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Idaho closed out competition at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Preliminary Rounds on Saturday afternoon with Zachary Short placing 20^th in the shot put.
 
Short's best throw of the day went 18.62 meters (61-1.25).  He was the top finisher from the Big Sky.  He came in ranked 19^th in the West.
 
Short was making his second straight appearance at the Preliminary Rounds.  He took 24^th last year at 17.86 meters (58-7.25).  He earned All-America Second Team honors during the indoor season after finishing 15^th at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.  He currently sits in fifth in program history in the event, heading into his senior season.
