MOSCOW, Idaho –
The University of Idaho Track & Field program is thrilled to announce the signing of Elise Abbott of Sprague High School.
 
Abbott is an emerging talent from the state of Ore­gon. During her junior year in track & field, she qualified for the Oregon State Track & Field Championships in the 1500m by placing second in the Greater Valley Con­ference Championships with a personal best of 4:48.62. She went on to place ninth in the 1500m at the state championships. So far in her senior season she has won 10 races on the track and has posted a new personal best time of 2:20.94 in the 800m. She also has personal bests of 10:43.97 in the 3000m and 1:01.96 in the 400m.
 
Abbott has had success in cross country as well, com­peting at the Oregon State Cross Country Championships all four years of high school. Her highest finish came her junior year, where she placed 21st at the state meet. Twice she finished in the top ten at the Greater Valley Conference Championships, placing sixth as a sophomore and seventh as a junior. Her senior season she placed seventh in the new and highly competitive Mountain Val­ley Conference Championships. She ran a personal best of 18:42 for 5000m on a cross country course her senior season.
 
Abbott thrives in the classroom as well, she is a Na­tional Merit Commended Scholar and graduates having earned the highest weighted GPA in her class.
