@VandalHoops Adds Youngman

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho basketball and the entire staff have been hard at work finalizing the 2019-20 roster, and are excited to announce the signing of A.J. Youngman.

"We are fortunate to have someone of A.J.'s character join our program," Zac Claus, interim head coach, said.  "He brings added 3-point shooting, competitiveness and maturity to our group.  Through his work ethic he will have a positive impact here both on the court and in the classroom.  He has been well schooled on the court by his dad, Jim, who has been a successful high school coach, and most recently by Cole Dewey and his staff at Otero."

Youngman played for Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo., last season, where he averaged 9.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.  He shot 45.8 percent from beyond the arc, ranking in the top-20 in the NJCAA among student-athletes with at least two made 3's per game.

A 6-4 wing, Youngman began his collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky University.  There, he appeared in 28 games, starting six, and averaged 3.8 points per contest while shooting 39.5 percent from range.

Youngman played his high school ball for Manual HS in Peoria, Ill., where he averaged 12.3 points per game as a senior.  He began his high school career in grade seven, and scored over 1,100 points during his three seasons living in Kentucky (2011-14).
