BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Maddie Haas buried her first career goal to lift Idaho (1-1) past CSU Bakersfield (1-1), 1-0, in 100 degree heat in California on Sunday night.
"I was very happy with our performance tonight, especially coming off a hard fought game on Friday," said head coach
Jeremy Clevenger. "This was a good team win against a good opponent. Two things stood out to me, we had different people step up tonight and I am always happy when we can get a shutout."
Haas got the Vandals on the board late in the first half.
Malia Morales got the play started with a long throw near the Runners' corner flag.
Brooke Sosa flicked a header backward, finding Haas for the nice touch in front.
Haas,
Taylor Brust and
Kayleigh Frederick each had two shot.
Avrie Fox made five saves on the night. Idaho picked up its first ever win at Bakersfield, after dropping the previous three meetings at the Roadrunners.
The Vandals return home for four straight in Moscow, beginning with Oregon Tech at 5 p.m. on Friday.
