MOSCOW, Idaho – Two teams that have never met before certainly seemed to have some bad blood, as things got physical on Sunday afternoon between Idaho and Mississippi State. In the end, the Bulldogs were able to take the win, 2-1.
Mississippi State got on the board in the 15
th minute.
Avrie Fox made an unbelievable save on a header from Monigo Karnley, but Andrea Tyrell was there to bury the rebound. The Bulldogs would double their advantage late in the half on a similar situation. Fox made another huge save, but MSU's Hailey Farrington-Bentil was there to clean up and give the Bulldogs the 2-0 advantage headed into the break.
The Vandals put the pressure on the Bulldogs and held control for much of the second.
Kaysie Bruce had an excellent opportunity right out front after a long throw, but MSU's Gabby English was able to get a foot on the shot to deflect it out.
Myah Merino would get one back for Idaho in the 90
th minute, finishing after a nicely slotted pass from
Maddie Haas, but the Vandals would eventually run out of time, falling 2-0.
Idaho was outshot on the day, 15-13. Fox made a career-high nine saves.
