BREMERTON, Wash. - The third round of the Husky Invitational was canceled Tuesday, due to inclement weather. The tournament scores from the first 36 holes are the official results for the shortened two-round event. The Vandals finished 15th, while
Colt Sherrell was the top individual in a tie for 47th. A complete recap of Monday's first two rounds is available below.
Idaho men's golf teed off the 2019-20 season Monday, with the first two rounds of the Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course. The Vandals are in 15th place through 36 holes, led by sophomoreÂ
Colt Sherrell at 4-over and tied for 47th individually. Idaho tees off the final round Tuesday, at 8:40 a.m. on the back nine.
Sherrell came out strong in the first round, posting two birdies and an eagle to shoot 2-under. He helped Idaho record a 7-over 295 to start the year. The score had the Vandals in 12th place and six strokes outside the top half of a formidable field.
Sherrell continued his steady play into the second round and a birdie on the 14th hole had him positioned in the top 20 before closing the round with two bogeys and a double to shoot 78. His double on 18 was one of six recorded by the Vandals' scoring contingent in the second round, contributing to a 310 team score.
Fellow sophomoreÂ
Joseph Glenn is just off Sherrell's pace, sitting one stroke back at 5-over and tied for 50th. Glenn shot an opening-round 74 and posted Idaho's top score in the second round at 75 (3-over). He had a team-high-tying six birdies across the two rounds.
FreshmanÂ
Jackson Jacob had an up-and-down collegiate debut. Jacob matched Glenn with six birdies, including three in a five-hole stretch to close out his first round at 3-over. He is tied for 67th at 10-over through 36 holes.
Jacob is tied with teammateÂ
Jack Plaster at 10-over. Plaster started the tournament with three consecutive bogeys, before going on to card pars on 14 of his final 15 holes and finish the round at 4-over. His second round was much more eventful. Plaster mixed in five pars among five birdies, five bogeys and three doubles to shoot a 6-over. Each round was better than his previous career best, which was an 8-over at last year's Husky Invitational.
Idaho enters the final round two strokes behind Hawaii and within eight shots of Washington State.
