PHOENIX, Ariz. – Head coach
Debbie Buchanan picked up her 300
th career victory in style on Friday evening, leading Idaho volleyball to the five-set win over Omaha.
Kyra Palmbush led the Vandals with 11 kills while hitting .588.
Kennedy Warren added 10 kills of her own.
Hailey Pelton recorded 22 assists.
The Vandals move to 2-2 in five set matches this season. Idaho is now 3-0 when the teams split the opening two sets.
The Vandals got out to a slow start in the first set, hitting -.182 and eventually falling 25-14. Idaho settled in for the second and played much better offensively. The Vandals hit .385 in the second set to win, 25-21.
Omaha took the third, 25-20, before Idaho won the fourth, 25-18, to force a deciding fifth set. The Vandals dominated in the fifth, 15-10.
Competition in Phoenix continues tomorrow against the hosts, Grand Canyon, at noon, and CSUN at 4 p.m.
