MOSCOW, Idaho – Last minute heroics and
Juliana deTar officially go hand-in-hand as the senior saved the day in a 1-1 draw for Idaho soccer (3-8-1, 0-1-1 BSC) against Northern Colorado (2-8-3, 0-0-2 BSC) on Sunday afternoon in the Dome.
Trailing 1-0 in the final minute of play,
Savannah Foster sent in a lofted cross toward the box just looking to make something happen. The UNC defense was unable to get a foot on it, and after a bouncing toward the middle of the box, deTar pounced and smashed a shot into the back of the net with just 12 seconds remaining. DeTar is no stranger to clutch moments. She also scored the game-winner against North Dakota last Sunday in the 89
th minute.
UNC took the lead in the 88
th minute on a corner kick by Olivia Seddon. Her bending corner was headed toward the near post, but two Vandal defenders attempting to make the clear got tangled up, and the Bears took the lead.
Idaho will hit the road on Sunday to take on Eastern Washington at 1 p.m.
