Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Idaho fell to the hosts, the University of Portland, in three sets on Friday afternoon at the North Portland Marriot Invite. There's no time for rest of the Vandals, with a tilt against Utah State scheduled for 4 p.m.
Kennedy Warren picked up 10 kills while hitting .333.
Donnée Janzen led Idaho with 20 assists on the day.
Idaho got out to a slow start but was able to get back within two at 10-8 early. The Pilots went on a hot streak from there, scoring 10 of the next 13 points. Portland would go on to take the set, 25-14.
Set two was a back-and-forth battle early. Up one point, at 17-16, Idaho went on 6-2 run to take a commanding 23-18 advantage. The Pilots locked in, going on an 8-1 run of their own, to take the second, 26-24.
Portland came out on fire in the third, getting up 21-10. The Vandals kept the hope alive with a 12-2 run to get within one point at 23-22. After a point from the Pilots, the Vandals would rattle off three straight to get up for the first time in the set, 25-24. After trading points, Portland closed strong and took the set, 29-27, to earn the sweep.
It's a short break for the Vandals, who next take on Utah State at 4 p.m.
