I was born in Detroit, Michigan before moving to Cary, North Carolina. For the last 15 years Cary has been my home. It is a fairly big city positioned just 20 minutes from Raleigh, North Carolina. Cary sits in the middle of three big University's: Duke, N.C. State and UNC. The area is commonly referred to as the "Research triangle".
Â
Compared to the area around Moscow, Cary is about the size of Pullman. Not a small town and not a super big town. Everybody knows everybody. Cary is the suburban side of Raleigh.
Â
I went to Green Hope High School, the number one high school for athletics in the state of North Carolina. Green Hope wasn't just successful in one sport, but multiple, including my sport of tennis. With the success of the athletic programs, my high school and the Cary community is filled with a lot of athletes and those who go off to play in college. When I graduated there was about 12-15 student athletes that went on to play Division I collegiate athletics, across all sports.
Â
Tennis isn't very big in the town with football and basketball being big. However, if you enjoy playing there is a great spot. Cary tennis park is about two minutes away from the high school, a 30-court facility in the middle of the city. You can always find people of all ages on these courts.
Â
My senior year we won the State Championship for the first time while our women's tennis team has been undefeated for several years. The community has supported the high school's tennis teams well. When we were on our way to the State Championship in 2019, we were given a police escort and there was a bunch of people to come and support us. Being a high school athlete in Cary felt like being in a small college town.
Â
Compared to here, the east coast is a bit livelier. There's a lot more people and more areas to go and hangout with friends. On top of that, the east coast doesn't really have the small-town vibe that Moscow does.

When friends come to Cary, I want to take them to Cook-Out, a restaurant staple in the southeast. Willimington beach is only short drive away and i enjoy the beach. I also enjoy showing my friends around the city, there's a lot to do.
