MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track and Field program is thrilled to announce the signing of Noah Culbertson of Sherwood High School in Sherwood, Oregon.
Noah is one of the top ranked throwers in the country. He threw a personal best of 62 feet even during the 2020 track and field season for Sherwood Track Club, a mark that is tied for the sixth best throw in the country during the altered season due to covid-19. Noah was also nationally ranked during his sophomore season when he threw 56 feet 11.75 inches ranking him ninth among all sophomores during the 2019 season.
The last time Noah was able to compete in uniform for Sherwood High School as a sophomore he placed very highly at the Oregon State Track and Field Championships. Noah placed third at the Oregon State Meet in the shot put and ninth in the discus throw. He also remarkably placed fifth at the state championships in the shot put as a freshman. Noah also has a silver medal at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in the shot put from the 2019 season. Noah's personal best in the discus throw is 174 feet eight inches.
Noah has been well guided at both Sherwood High School and also in working with 2016 Olympian Sam CrousÂer. Noah is begging to learn the hammer already with this guidance. He is also a very accomplished football player, playing offensive tackle and defensive end. He was selected as Second Team All-State at OT, First Team All-League at OT, and Second Team All-League at DE. AnÂother talent of Noah's is playing the trombone, which he has done since sixth grade and is part of the Wind EnÂsemble Band at Sherwood.
"Noah is one of the best throwers in the country coming out of this class. He is also just as talented in his studies. We are thrilled to have him join the Vandal family," said
Tim Cawley, Director of Track and Field/Cross Country.
