Vandals Women's Basketball finalizes 2020-21 schedule

SCHEDULE    PROSPECTUS    RECORD BOOK

MOSCOW, Idaho –
The Idaho Women's Basketball team has finalized their 2020-21 schedule with five non-conference games.

"There's still teams out there that are still trying to solidify things," said Head Coach Jon Newlee. "It's been a struggle; it's been a challenge. The network was in full force to get the schedule in place, but I'm happy with it, I'm pleased with it. It's really going to test us, but again that's what I want going into conference play."

The Vandals will play host to Lewis-Clark State College on Nov. 25 to begin the season.

"We have LCSC who we traditionally play, we will be able to get that game which is great," said Newlee. "There's been a lot of cooperation between the both of us as far as testing and willingness to be flexible. We are looking forward to that."

Before opening conference play on Dec. 3, Idaho will travel to Corvallis, Oregon to face Oregon State on Nov. 29.

After returning home to open Big Sky play on Dec. 3-5 the Vandals will hit the road to face another Power-5 opponent in Texas.

On Dec. 13 the Vandals will play their third and final Power-5 opponent of the non-conference season as they travel just eight miles down the road to face Washington State.

"I like to schedule hard. I like to see what our team is made of in the non-conference," said Newlee. "The number of non-conference games we could play made it a little difficult to kind of mix it up. Oregon State I'm sure will be top-15 in the country for the preseason maybe ten. Texas will be right up there as always, and then we get another tough Pac-12 team in [Washington State] which is the first time in 12 years maybe that they've finally decided to play us. I've certainly tried every year, so I commend Kamie for wanting to get the regional rivalry and border war going with us. It's awesome to be able to play those guys and in fact we scheduled a home-and-home. We are already are looking forward to having them over here when the arena opens."

The non-conference season will conclude at home on Dec. 21 as the Vandals host Seattle University. Idaho topped the Redhawk's in double-overtime last season on the road.

"It's been a great rivalry for us going back to the WAC days," said Newlee. "We took them down to win the WAC, got them again and again, so it's been a good back and forth. We had a great double-overtime game last year with them. It's fun to play the local teams in your area and we'd love to keep the series going."

The Big Sky portion of the schedule was released in October and will be in full force beginning on Dec. 31 with a road trip to Northern Arizona.

The Vandals return to Moscow on Jan. 7-9 to host Southern Utah. In addition the Vandals will play Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Portland State and Montana at home this season.

The Vandals close out the regular season on the road against Montana State (Feb. 25-27) before returning home to face Montana (Mar. 3-5) on senior day.  The Big Sky Women's Basketball Championship will take place in Boise March 8-12.

Single-game tickets will be available for purchase at 9 a.m. the day before each game for $5. There will be a limited number available. Visit Govandals.com/tickets or call the ticket office at (208) 885-6466 to purchase yours.
